The training lasts Three weeks, at the end of which they go back to their health centres with a portable ultrasound machine provided with the help of the government and a Canadian foundation. The NMMH covers the whole of the cost of this training. 85 nurses have been trained this year and the first positive results are clear: a reduction in mortality rates for both the nursing mother and her child. The nurses can now send future mothers\u00a0 with a pregnacy &#8216;at risk&#8217;\u00a0 into instutions where they practice caesarians and other specialised care.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, training in the use of &#8216;telemedicine&#8217; has been pursued throughout the country. As a reminder, at our request and with our help, this softwere has been developed by computer scientists\u00a0 over several years. Approved by the Ministry of Health at teh end of 2021, it is adapted to the Nepali health system. It allows remote regions to get\u00a0 medical advice from the district, regional or even university hospital. It is being progressively installed throughout the country. The operating costs are covered by the Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n<p>We were also able to bring ato Belgium a little 5 year old girl and her father so she could be operated on for an extremely rare\u00a0 congenital patholgy of the backbone. She remained in Belgium for two months and returned to Nepal in good form.<\/p>\n<p>As every year, surgical cmps have been organised in the most remote areas of Nepal.
