As soon as the mobile orthopaedic and dental camp was finished in Khotang, we went up to Phaplu to check on progress with the work there.
We undertook a new measurement of the available space and defined the four corners of the new building. All the old buildings are now demolished and most of the rubble taken away.
8 days ago, a propitious moment according to the lamas, a ‘puja’ (Buddhist ceremony) was held on the site of the new building in the presence of the contractor and some staff members. Thursday 12 December was propitious according to the lamas and the Buddhist calendar.
During January, the remaining rubble will be removed, and the foundations prepared. Nevertheless, we must wait until February to pour the first concrete, for there is still too much ice at 2 400m !
